Maria Naylor lives with her husband on a small farm in East Sussex, breeding pedigree Large Black pigs and Hereford cattle. Starting with Gloucestershire Old Spots in 2000, she later added Saddlebacks and Large Blacks, supplying local butchers and markets before focusing solely on the rare Large Black. Passionate about preserving its bloodlines, she keeps Bess, Diana, Golden Harvest, and Princess lines, working with the Large Black Breeders Club and AI boars in Northern Ireland. Maria enjoys showing (despite nerves!) and is on the traditional judges list. She also helps organise the pig sections at Heathfield, South of England, and Edenbridge & Oxted Shows.

Nick has been involved in pigs all his life. He is very keen to conserve the Large White and has been involved with RBST Large White conservation programme. He is keen to ensure no more lines are lost. Nick is very approachable and keen to help breeders old and new.

Dave has been a breed rep for a number of years. During Dave’s time as a breed rep, he has been involved with new breeders, advising over the phone, analysing photos and with occasional visits to assist them with suitability of possible pedigree registration of weaners and advice with housing and pens. Dave is always available to help and has the experience to back it up.

Grace comes from 4 generations of Dairy farmers, but pig keeping started with her mum 26 years ago so has always grown up with them. Grace has had a passion for British landrace since the age of 12 where she fell in love with the breed over the years Grace has increased her own herd with some of the rarer line and currently has 6 female lines and 3 male lines.

Grace is always happy to help and encourage new breeders and is very approachable. 

Irving has been a member for many years now supporting the British Saddlebacks. In the time he has kept the breed he has been a breed rep for over 7 years many of those doing the job single handily. Irving is very approachable and is passionate about his breed and is always available to help members as and when they need it.

Oliver Giles, based in Billingshurst, West Sussex, breeds British Saddlebacks, Durocs, Large Whites and Middle Whites, exhibiting regularly nationwide. A BPA Accredited Judge, he values providing feedback to exhibitors and serves on the Edenbridge and Oxted Show Livestock Committee. A qualified Farm Veterinary Surgeon, he specialises in dairy, beef and sheep, also advising small-commercial pig units and pedigree herds on herd health and vaccination protocols. Oliver has published widely on biosecurity and herd management, previously served on the BPA Conservation Committee, represented the Middle White breed, and continues as Chairman of the Middle White Pig Breeders’ Club.

Chris has run a successful hog roast business for many years and as a part of this has kept both Berkshires and Landrace pigs. Berkshire are his original breed and remains a breed he has been heavily involved in as part of the Berkshire breeders club as well as now becoming a breed representative for the breed. As part of his work with the Berkshire Breeders Club he was a part of a group of breeders who set up a boar trial to improve the breed.

Chris has been a breed rep for a number of years and therefore has had a lot of experience helping members out. As well as being involved as a breed rep, Chris has been involved in exporting pigs and been involved a number of exports across the world. Chris has always been passionate about his pigs and the importance of preserving and promoting the pigs however he can.

 Guy has been involved with pigs for most of his life and has a wealth of experience with a number of different breeds. Guy has held several different posts within the BPA, sitting on most of the committees at various times as well as being Chairman for 5 years. As well as being involved in the BPA Guy has exported pigs to a variety of different countries. Guy is passionate about keeping pigs as well as recognising the importance of pigs needing to be economically viable.
