Janice Wood

Contact Number: 07712 653817

Janice has  been passionate about Large Blacks for a long time having bred them for over 30 years. Her knowledge of conservation has been gained through her role as the Large Black Breed Surveyor for over 15 years, having helped Viki Mills for a few years before that.   In recent years, Janice has helped the BPA to refine the kinship software to make it more user friendly and encouraged Large Black breeders to use the system.   This has been very successful, and we have one of the lowest inbreeding percentages of any of the breeds.  Hopefully, this is helping to keep our national herd healthier.

In addition to this, Janice has been the Secretary of the Large Black Pig Breeders Club since 2008.  The club has worked closely with the BPA on various projects towards our shared conservation aims.
